Hi Reader,

What a whirlwind these past few weeks have been! As I sit down to write this email, my youngest daughter and her family have arrived home in North Carolina, my middle son and his new wife are off on their honeymoon, and the house has that peaceful-but-empty feeling that comes after wonderful but exhausting family celebrations.

My middle daughter, Jessica, perfectly captured how we're all feeling right now - she texted me after everyone left, saying she feels like "an empty nester." I had to laugh because that's exactly how I feel, too, despite still having one adult son at home! (And Jess has four kids at home, so she's not an empty nester, either. πŸ˜†) There's something about having the house full of children and grandchildren that makes their absence feel all the more profound.

Between our Disneyland vacation, wedding festivities, and hosting family from across the country, I've intentionally kept Prancing Pony Farm on "part-time mode" - caring for the animals and handling essential client needs while protecting time for family. It took real discipline not to burn the candle at both ends, but I'm so grateful I made that choice.

Now, as the dust settles and the "empty nest" feeling begins to fade, I'm ready (if a bit tired!) to dive back into full business mode.

What's Ahead

My son Noah, farm hand Kiley, and I will be working together to get back into our regular farm routine. There's quite a bit to catch up on:

Maremma Puppy Training Focus

I have nine adorable Maremma puppies out of Pax and Electra, who will be six weeks old in just a couple of days - the perfect age to begin their formal training program. (They have been in passive training from birth.) This is an exciting stage, as their personalities start to shine, and we can begin working on foundational skills that will serve them throughout their lives as livestock guardian dogs and family companions.

I also have some older puppies and young dogs in training. Getting back to this hands-on training is honestly one of the things I'm most excited about. There's nothing quite like working with these incredible dogs and watching them develop into the LGDs they were born to be.

Electra's puppies are all sold, but we have a couple of older pups and adult Maremmas available and are taking reservations for our next litter. Click the link below to reserve your own Prancing Pony Maremma!

Office and Marketing Catch-Up

Although I kept up with essential client communications this month, there is some behind-the-scenes work that needs attention. I'm looking forward to getting back to regular blog posts, updating the website, working on my membership site, and continuing to share the knowledge I've gained through my ongoing education in dog training and behavior.

Goat Kidding Season Update

Speaking of catching up, many of our goat kids are now ready to go to their new homes! If you've reserved kids from us, I'll be reaching out soon to schedule pickup appointments. These little ones have been thriving and are eager to embark on their new adventures with their families.

Last Call for Goat Kids & Wether Giveaway

If you've been considering adding goats to your farm but haven't made a reservation yet, now is the time to reach out. I won't be holding onto kids much longer - feeding and caring for this many animals requires more resources than I can sustainably manage while focusing on my primary goal of excellence in the Maremma program.

For those who haven't purchased goats but are interested in adding some to their farm, don't forget about our Wether Giveaway Contest!

I'll be giving away the remaining unsold bucklings (as wethers) to contest participants. As I reduce my herd, I may even include some doelings (without papers) and adult goats. The contest ends June 1st, so if you haven't entered yet, there's still time.

Count down to 2025-06-01T07:00:00.000Z

Moving Forward with Renewed Energy

Despite being tired from all the wonderful family time, I'm genuinely excited to get back to the work I love. The break reminded me why I do what I do - to create something meaningful that supports both the animals I care for and the families who depend on them.

I appreciate your patience during these family-focused weeks. I'm back, refreshed in spirit if not in body, and ready to continue serving you and these amazing animals with renewed focus.

Here's to getting back to the important work ahead!

With gratitude,

Kim

P.S. If you're interested in our Wether Giveaway Contest and haven't entered yet, visit this page before June 1st. And if you have questions about available goat kids, don't hesitate to reach out!
