Hi Reader,
Good Monday morning from the puppy parlor!
I don’t usually send emails on Mondays, but when puppies decide to make their grand entrance at 4 AM, well… normal schedules go out the window!
THE BIG NEWS: Aurae has been busy! We now have six beautiful Maremma puppies and she’s still going strong!
What started at 4 AM with one little boy has turned into a proper puppy parade. I suspected something was happening when her temperature dropped below 100° during evening chores – that’s often the first sign labor is coming within 24 hours. But Aurae kept me guessing right until the end.
I was working late in my office (night owl life!) when I glanced at the whelping stall cameras around 4 AM and saw a tiny bundle that definitely wasn’t there before. Several hours later, we’re up to six little livestock guardians and mama is looking like the proudest dog on the planet.

What happens next in a responsible breeding program?
I’m still settled into the puppy parlor waiting for Aurae to finish – I don’t think she’s done yet. This is what ethical breeding really looks like: not just the cute puppy photos, but the all-night vigils, the emergency equipment on standby, and yes, sleeping on a camping cot in the barn to make sure every single puppy arrives safely.
Each puppy gets:
• Immediate cord care and health assessment
• A colored dot (blue for boys, pink for girls) so I can track who’s new
• Monitoring with our puppy incubator and oxygen concentrator ready if needed
Aurae gets calcium supplementation to keep labor progressing smoothly and help her stay calm through the process.
We’re not done counting yet, but I wanted to share this exciting morning with you – especially those of you who already have reservations on this litter!
Still thinking about adding a Maremma livestock guardian to your farm? We do have a few spots still available on this litter. Sometimes there’s nothing like puppy excitement to help folks move from “someday” to “let’s do this.”
I’ll update you all once everyone has safely arrived and we can do proper headcounts. Until then, it’s me, Aurae, and what’s shaping up to be a beautiful litter of future livestock guardians.
My nap will have to wait until mama decides she’s finished!
Ready to reserve your spot? Hit reply and let me know and fill out our puppy application – there’s nothing quite like watching your future farm guardian grow from day one.
Talk soon (once I’ve had some sleep!),
Kim

P.S. – I have a feeling this is going to be one of those litters people talk about for years. Aurae is absolutely glowing with pride, and these little ones are already showing the robust health we breed for.
