Hi Reader,

How's your week going? We had the craziest "adventure" here on the farm last Saturday. I have this old mobile office trailer in my barnyard that I use as a dog grooming room. (Before that, it was a milking parlor; before that, my daughter used it as a rabbitry.) We bought it used from a gravel company years ago, and it has served us well.

My Maremmas and goats have always enjoyed laying under it, especially in the summertime, when it provides great relief from the California sun. This seemed like a great arrangement until one day when I noticed the trailer had fallen into giant craters that my dogs had dug under it. It started leaning badly and was no longer safe to use. My goats had begun eating the siding (crazy goats! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ), and it was also leaning precariously close to my fence, so we really needed to move it out of the barnyard. But how could we get it out when it was badly stuck in the Maremma craters?

Steve tried pulling it with his tractor, but the tractor wheels were coming up off the ground with the effort. Not safe! So I texted my hay guy, Marty, to see if he knew anyone who could help and he told me to call his squeeze driver, Joey.

Joey was over in about 20 minutes. When he told me he planned to pick the trailer up in the air and go over the 5' fence with it, I admit I was a bit nervous. I could imagine my trailer and thousands of dollars worth of professional grooming equipment (including a full-sized dog grooming tub and electric grooming table) crashing to the ground. 😳

But what choice did I have if I ever wanted to be able to use the trailer and not risk my fence getting smashed (or an animal or human getting hurt) if the trailer decided to tip over?

So, it was a chance I had to take. I prayed it would all go well and watched one of the craziest sights I've ever seen unfold on my farm. How do you think it turned out? Watch the video below to find out, and let me know what you think about this crazy use of farm equipment!

Have you ever used farm equipment in a "creative" way or done anything this risky with something worth a lot of money (and not insured!)? How did it turn out? Let me know.

Don't be shy. Just hit reply and say hello!
